GUWAHATI, Sept 25 Extending its solidarity with the flood-affected people of Assam, Save Guwahati Build Guwahati (SGBG) has urged all political parties, legislators, parliamentarians to desist from mud-slinging and to stand by the people in their hour of distress.
The calamitous impacts of the floods have been unprecedented and it is our bounden duty to help those affected in whatever manner we can. Unfortunately, our parliamentarians have fallen short of discharging their responsibilities in this hour of crisis and are indulging in cheap politics. This is uncalled-for and we appeal to them to stand by the people, it said in a statement.
SGBG also said that since the Assam Government would be unable to tide over the crisis posed by the floods on its own, the Centre needed to assist it in a big way in matters of relief and rehabilitation of the affected and in restoration of infrastructure.
