GUWAHATI, May 13 � In a shocking bit of news for the sporting buffs of the State, a group of archers alleged that their guru, Gunin Changmai, not only treats them badly but also molests the girl trainees.
The Archery Association of Assam (AAA) president Jayanta Boro in a press meet today exposed the episode, lamenting that the Sports Authority of India (SAI) city centre coach Changmai has been misbehaving with the girl inmates of the SAI hostel here. Some of the girl archers even alleged that their coach sexually harasses them. A group of archers have already submitted a written complaint to the AAA president against Changmai and accordingly the State archery body has written to the SAI North East Regional Sub Centre�s director in-charge to take action against him.
It is unfortunate that when the State archers are making tremendous improvement in the international and national circuit, such an incident will definitely have a negative effect on the archers.
The SAI authority must be cautious in controlling such misdeeds as a few days back, a similar incident took place at the Tinsukia SAI centre.
When contacted, Changmai said all the allegations are baseless and he has asked for a proper inquiry. It is, however, learnt that Changmai has been transferred to Shillong.
