Several artistes join BJP

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 21 - Several artistes, including music director-lyricist Biman Baruah and singer Kallol Borthakur, joined the ruling BJP here today.

They joined the outfit in the presence of State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass during a function held at the ruling partys state head-office at Hengrabari.

Among others who joined the BJP on the occasion were Jayanta Kumar Sarma, Banjit Sarma, Kaushik Sarma, Bhabajyoti Das, Bulumoni Goswami and Nikunja Medhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Dass said that BJP has a deep connection with Assams culture and the party has always given a special status to artistes and people associated with the cultural field.

Dass also made use of the occasion to assert that the farm bills passed by Parliament are progressive legislations and would help the Indian agricultural sector and farmers by removing middlemen and increasing market access. Dass said that passage of the farm bills would usher in big growth in the primary sector.

He said that BJP is the only party which took steps to implement Clause 6 of the Assam Accord. The Sarbananda Sonowal-led government took Clause 6, which was only in paper, to the floor of Parliament. BJP is the only party which can implement Clause 6, said Dass.

It is noteworthy that several personalities from the field of art and culture have joined the BJP, as well as the Congress party, during recent weeks. With the next Assembly polls only months away, more such inductions are expected.
