Seven more virus deaths in Manipur

IMPHAL, Nov 28 - The COVID-19 death toll continues to rise alarmingly in Manipur with seven more virus deaths reported during the last 24 hours. The cumulative number of deaths in the State has climbed to 263.

In the last 24 hours, three male persons from Imphal West, one male from Imphal East, one male from Thoubal, one female from Chandel and one male from Tamenglong expired at the District Hospital, Tamenglong, District Hospital, Chandel, and the JNIMS, stated an official release.

During the same 24-hour period, 230 civilians and five Central Armed Police Forces personnel were also confirmed positive, the release added. The new COVID-19 positive cases were detected at 23 testing facilities in the State.

The positive cases from the general population were reported from 14 districts, including 77 from Imphal West, 42 from Imphal East and 47 from Churachandpur. They are being shifted to the COVID care facilities.

Meanwhile, 197 persons were discharged from 13 COVID care facilities after they were found free from infection following RT-PCR tests during the last 24 hours.

The cumulative number of positive cases in Manipur is 24,749, while the numbers of active and recovered cases are 3,283 and 21,203 respectively. The recovery rate in the State is 85.67 per cent.
