The boys have been identified as Biki Tanti (8), Montu Oraaon (8), Mathias Kharia (10), Rakesh Munda (6), Sunil Munda (4), Sujit Murah (10) and Sagar Murah (7).

The boys, seemingly tired were seen walking through the tea gardens last evening by some workers at Borborooah tea estate who then informed the local members of Assam Tea Tribes Students Association. Members of the students body in a swift action rescued the boys and also held Tanti. All of them were later handed over to Borborooah Police Station, according to ATTSA sources.

Meanwhile, the guardians of the children had lodged complaint at Dikom police outpost yesterday. Dikom police has registered a case No. 71/10 under Section 366 (A) IPC against Dwipen Tanti. Tanti had reportedly admitted that he had lured the boys to take at least two boys to work as domestic help (haluwa) in Khowang, according to the police. However, why he led seven boys through tea plantations is under question. Police took the boys for medical check up and handed them over to their parents this evening.
