Seven houses on Kharghuli hills sealed

GUWAHATI, May 10 � The Kamrup Metro district administration today sealed seven houses in the Kharghuli hills.

The action came less than a week after the district administration had served notices to nine families residing in the landslide-prone areas of the locality to vacate their houses and to shift to safer locations. All the families that were served notices were staying on government land.

Officials said two other families were able to secure stay on the eviction order from the courts.

�All families have been told to shift for their own safety. The administration has made arrangement for lodging and other alternative facilities for the families for 15 days,� said an official.
