Setting up of Solid Waste Management Plant reviewed

DIBRUGARH, June 12 - The Project Director of Assam Urban Infrastructure Investment Programme (AUIIP), Vinod Seshan yesterday said that the government was seeking to complete all works of setting up the Solid Waste Management Plant at Lekai by May 1, 2020, a release stated.

While reviewing the progress of the Solid Waste Management Plant at the office of the Dibrugarh Municipal Board (DMB) in the presence of Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha and DMB chairman Soma Chakravorty, Seshan said that since the deadline has been set Solid Waste Management experts from AUIIP would reside in the city and monitor the progress. Other officials from AUIIP were also in attendance.

The Project Director also asked the Municipality to understand all technical operations of the plant and check its logistics. Whether wastes are being segregated or not, how much revenue is being collected from door-to-door, garbage collection are issues to be evaluated, he told the Municipality authorities.

In a separate meeting held with Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha at the DC�s conference hall, the AUIIP Project Director also reviewed the progress of the construction of the Dibrugarh Town Protection drain and a secondary drain under the AUIIP programme. Additional Deputy Commissioner Sushanta Kumar Dutta and AUIIP officials also attended the meeting.
