Sesquicentenary celebration of Nobdilangting village organised

HAFLONG, Jan 15 - To commemorate the 150 glorious existence of Nobdilalngting village, the central committee of Nobdilangting Village Sesquicentenary Celebration cum Get-together Committee-2018 organised a two-day Nobdilangting village sesquicentenary celebration with great enthusiasm on Saturday and Sunday last.

The day started with unveiling of 150 years memorial stone by the Chief Executive Member, NC Hills Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa in presence of Executive Member, NCHAC Biswasjit Daolagupu, former EM, Depolal Hoaji, elderly citizens along with people of the entire village.

In this connection, a meeting was also held and it was attended by Chief Executive Member, NC Hills Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa as chief guest while Executive Member, NCHAC Biswasjit Daolagupu, former EMs, Depolal Hoaji, Mahendra Nunisa, JHN President, Kailen Daolagupu, Editor, Haflong Khurang, Sukhendra Phonglo, A Bathari, Kalpana Bathari, Surjya Thaosen, former HM, Nobdilangting ME School Vijoyanada Barman etc., were present as guests of honour and special invitees.

Nobdilangting, a souvenir to commemorate the sesquicentenary celebration was released by the chief guest and the guests of honour.

Speaking on the occasion, CEM Gorlosa stated that the BJP-led NCHAC is committed for overall development of the district in true sense and lambasted the previous leaders for their lack of far-sightedness. Expressing concern over the backwardness of Langting-Dibu area, he said that he has noted all the problems of this area like lack of road connectivity, electricity supply, mobile network etc., and assured that all these problems will be solved in the days to come.

EM Daolagupu also explained how all the members of the executive committee have been trying their best to bring in a change in the near future.

Mahendra Nunisa, an engineer by qualification and a politician by profession belonging to this village maintained that problems of this area are genuine and these have to be solved gradually. But at the same time the people of this area should become economically sound through enhanced cultivation and adopt cultivation of cash crops so as to increase their income generation. He further said that this area is popular for �til� cultivation, which could fetch good earnings and make the people self-sufficient.

Almost all the speakers equivocally appreciated the contributions of late KR Hojai, who was the undisputed leader of this area for a long time. They said that as the EM of NCHADC, Late Hojai contributed immensely to the field of education and his steps towards social reforms made this area a prosperous one.

This was followed by a cultural night in which various traditional dances, songs etc., were performed by the youths as well as by elderly people of the village.
