DIPHU, Nov 27 - Pijush Hazurika, State Health Minister formally inaugurated the OPD service of the newly-constructed Diphu Medical College & Hospital at Diphu today. Initially, 11 services have been introduced in the DMC&H along with allied services like X-Ray and USG, Pharmacy, sample collection, ambulance services, laboratory etc., besides all emergency services.
Hazarika, while addressing a large gathering of people announced that all additional services with state-of-the-art facilities will be made available soon, as was committed by the BJP government. He mentioned that students will be able to take admission in the medical college from the next academic session.
Services which were introduced today in this institute are Medicine, Surgery, O&G, Pediatrics, Orthopaedics, Physiotherapy, Eye, ENT, Psychiatry, Dermatology and Dental.
It may be mentioned here that construction work of the Diphu Medical College and Hospital began three years back and recruitment of staff was done a few months back. This institute is a dream come true for the people of the hill areas of Assam which lag in medical service. The Chief Executive Member of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, Tuliram Ronghang walked the extra mile to establish this institution just after coming to power and was instrumental in achieving the targetted date.
