GUWAHATI, Aug 20 - As part of its efforts to provide assistance to tax-payers in pursuance with Central government�s initiatives for �ease of doing business� and �tax payers services�, the Commissionerate of Central Excise & Service Tax, Guwahati organized its second workshop-cum-interactive session with service providers under the �renting of immovable property services� category on Friday.
Many assessees providing service under the category attended the programme.
According to a press release, the department is starting a survey-cum-awareness exercise coupled with facilitation of the service providers to file their application for online registration within thirty days after crossing of taxable value of Rs 9 lakh in the event they are availing the threshold exemption of Rs 10 lakh.
A similar interactive session will be organized by the commissionerate for service providers under the �business auxiliary service� category on August 30 and for service providers under �rent-a-cab service�, �air travel service�, �commercial training and coaching centres� and �tour operator� categories etc on September 2.
