Serve patients with dedication, says CM

SILCHAR, Jan 22 - Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday said that doctors, nursing staff, students and administrative fraternity of Silchar Medical College and Hospital must work round the clock to render services to the people who come for better treatment at the hospital.

Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the golden jubilee celebration of the hospital, Sonowal said, �Since 1968, the hospital has come a long way and I am happy to be here on the day of Saraswati Puja. The is the time for the doctors, nursing staff and administrative officials to resolve to work with dedication for 24 hours in rendering services to the patients and keep the campus clean so that the hospital becomes an institution of trust for the people who seek better treatment.�

The Chief Minister was quick to add that the government is committed to fulfil the demands of opening a cancer hospital, dental college and infrastructure development of the college. �We must work together as �Team Assam� for overall development of health scenario here and across the State,� he added.

On the other hand, the Chief Minister informed the gathering about the steps taken by the government to expand Guwahati as a �State Capital Region� to create investment-friendly environment for investors from India and abroad and said that the success of the Global Investor Summit on February 3-4 shall redefine the pace of economic progress of the State.

The government is making efforts to create job opportunities so that youths from Barak and Brahmaputra valleys need not move out of the State, Sonowal added.
