SILCHAR, Jan 16 - An under trial prisoner (UTP) lodged at the Central Jail here and named Rocket Sharma (60) died on Sunday night.
According to reliable sources at the Central Jail, the under trial prisoner died at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital while undergoing cardiac treatment.
On the other hand, family members of the deceased suspect that Sharma might have been a victim of physical and psychological torture while inside the jail premises during the course of interrogation. Following the incident, sensation has been prevailing in the town.
