TEZPUR, Sept 20 Sensation prevails at Behali and its adjoining areas, including Borgang, in Sonitpur district following the report of firing by miscreants from Arunachal Pradesh on the people of Assam near the Rangagara Tea Estate along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border.

However, Lalit Gogoi, Deputy Commissioner, Sonitpur, denied the report of firing on Assamese people by Arunachali miscreants and said that some people from Arunachal Pradesh had entered the Behali forest to hunt for monkeys. They fired several rounds inside the forest during the hunt.

The DC added that the incident took place about 12 km away from the Rangagara Forest Beat Office at the Behali forest area.

Gogoi said that instructions have been given to the Forest Department to increase the staff strength at the Dikal BOP under the Behali Reserve Forest which was recently established.
