By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Oct 13 - Senior journalist DN Chakravortty today described ULFAs latest action of exploding bomb in the city as heinous.

Talking to this newspaper, Chakravortty, who is also the president of the Guwahati Senior Citizens Association and founder president of the Assam Senior Citizens Association, described ULFA as inimical to the Assamese people like the Burmese invaders in the early 19th century.

He alleged that ULFA is responsible for murdering thousands of innocent Indians in general and Assamese in particular. It has also caused tremendous loss to Assams economy, which is to the tune of Rs 45,000 crore.

Besides, a large number of Marwari traders, businessmen from northern and western India, who did good business in Assam till 1979, shifted their operations to Siliguri, Kolkata, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Haryana and Punjab due to terror caused by the outfit in the later years.

Moreover, by driving out over two lakh Bihari workers, ULFA has also terrorised thousands of workers from different parts of India working in Assam and conspired with the agents of Bangladesh to replace the Indian workers with lakhs of Bangladeshi workers, he said.

He urged the security agencies to launch a search against ULFA cadres hiding in the forests of Myanmar and China.
