Senior scribe Satish Sarma passes away

GUWAHATI, July 17 � Senior journalist and former Chief-of-the-Bureau of the United News of India (UNI) at Guwahati and Ranchi Satish Chandra Sarma passed away around 3 am today at the International Hospitals. He was ailing for some time.

Born at Mukalmua in Nalbari on June 1, 1946, Sarma completed his graduation from Nalbari College and was associated with a number of media organizations in different capacities.

He leaves behind son Pankaj Sarma, a senior journalist with The Telegraph, and daughter Arundhati Das. His last rites were performed at the Navagraha cremation ground this morning.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, Information and State Public Relations Minister Basanta Das besides a host of the noted personalities have condoled Sarma�s death. Meanwhile, the AASU today expressed deep sorrow over the demise of veteran journalist Satish Chandra Sarma.
