GUWAHATI, March 4 - Senior journalist Devol Kumar Nath, who has been working with The Assam Tribune as Chief Sub Editor, is embarking on a solo motorcycle ride to the four corners of India as part of his campaign to spread awareness about the natural and cultural heritage of the North East in the rest of India.

The 33-day solo ride will begin on March 6 from Guwahati to Kanyakumari, and then to Dwarka, to Srinagar and back to Guwahati, with night halts all the way.

I will be making night halts at Siliguri, Bardhaman, Puri, Vizianagaram, Vijayawada, Puducherry, Rameshwaram, Kanyakumari, Guruvayur, Udupi, Panaji, Pune, Vadodara, Diu, Dwarka, Mt Abu, Bikaner, Amritsar, Srinagar, Jalandhar, Agra, Allahabad, Patna and Siliguri totalling 24 days, Nath, who is an adventurer and blogger, said.

Only a few persons from south India have undertaken such solo rides, while Nath will be the first from the North East to do a solo motorcycle ride covering all the four corners of India.

During my trip, I will be an unofficial ambassador of the North East to the rest of India, which will provide me the unique opportunity of spreading awareness about the beauty of the North East not only with respect to flora and fauna but also in the context of culture and tradition of the people, including its famed tradition of gender equality, he said.
