Senior officials inspect Indo-Bangla border areas

BADARPUR, July 1 - High-level officials of the State Government, led by the Assam Home Commissioner LS Changsan inspected the Indo-Bangla border area of Karimganj on Wednesday, accompanied by DGP Mukesh Sahay, DGP (Additional) AK Singh Kashyap, DIG of Southern Range, Anurag Agarwal, Deputy Commissioner of Karimganj, Manoj Kumar Deka, Karimganj SP Pradeep Ranjan Kar, ADC, Dhrubajyoti Dev and BC Nath along with several other officials of the Karimganj district administration.

During the inspection from Lafashail to Steamerghat, these officials watched the barbed wire fencing and various critical problems of the border areas. Besides, they also make inquiries about some Indian villages, located across the border. They also discussed with the attached departmental officers, the progress report of the ongoing construction works of the barbed wire fencing. Home Commissioner LS Changsan and DGP Mukesh Sahay along with others also inspected the Suterkandi International Trade Centre and all the outposts of the Border Security Force of the district. It may be noted that the high-level official team inspected the border areas of Karimganj, as the Central Government has announced the decision to seal the Indo-Bangla border by December 31, 2017.

The team also had a detailed discussion with the Karimganj Deputy Commissioner regarding the law-and-order situation of the district.
