Seminar on preservation of Chandubi Beel today

NORTH GUWAHATI, Jan 2 � In recent times, due to various factors, the Chandubi Beel, with its rich biodiversity has been threatened and to preserve it, a meeting attended by distinguished resource personnel including academicians of IIT (G) and GU was held at the conference hall of the Kamrup DC (Rural) on December 31.

The meeting was addressed by the DC SK Roy while the Additional DC Bharat Bhusan Dev Choudhury compaered the proceedings.

The meeting decided to hold a national conference prepared earlier on January 3 next at Chandubi where invited experts on protection of diversity etc. would attend the event. Students and teachers from DK College, Pub-Kamrup College and Gauhati University are expected to attend the seminar.

Fraud arrested: Of late, the presence of suspected frauds and anti-social elements in the busy areas of North Guwahati and district headquarters, Amingaon, has created problems in carrying out monetary transactions in banks and markets.

Recently, while trying to deceive a person near the campus of the SBI of ICD Branch, Amingaon, a suspected fraud named Kalamuddin Alam (24) hailing from Matihari District of Bihar, was nabbed by the security guard posted in the bank.

Later, the security guard recovered a bundle of papers cut in the size of rupees five hundred notes. The bundle had two five hundred rupee notes pasted on both front and back size of the bundle. The youth arrested by Amingaon police was later handed to Jalukbari police station and a case has been registered against the youth in the Amingaon police station.
