Seminar held on scientific farming at Howli KVK

BARPETA, April 14 � A seminar on enhancement of agricultural production by using scientific methods and modern technology in agriculture was held at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Howli in Barpeta district recently. The seminar was chaired by Kularanjan Deka, principal of District Institution of Education and Training (DIET), Barpeta.

Addressing the seminar, Varnali Deka, Deputy Commissioner, Barpeta requested the youths to be self-dependant by engaging themselves in cultivation. She also suggested that modern scientific methods as well as technology should be utilised in agricultural sector extensively and the scientists of KVK should be consulted in case of any problem.

The scientists of KVK discussed in detail about the measures to be adopted to enhance production with quality by using scientific methods, control of pests, farming in flood affected areas and conservation of agricultural products. They also exchanged views with the attending farmers and replied queries raised by them.

The District Fisheries Development Officer, Deputy Director of Agriculture, officials of NABARD, sericulture, veterinary, students of local colleges and a large number of farmers attended the seminar.
