JORABAT, June 12 - The seizure of a timber-laden truck by Basistha police from Byrnihat area on Thursday has raised eyebrows as the truck had all relevant documents for transportation.
A joint team from Basistha Police Station and Jorabat Police Outpost raided AS Timber Shop in 15th Mile area of Byrnihat and seized the truck. It is to be mentioned that the shop falls under Sonapur Police Station.
Interestingly, a vehicle requires specified documents only during transit, but the truck, equipped with all relevant transit papers, was allegedly seized from the premises of the shop.
A set of documents required for transportation and operation by AS Timber Shop has also been accessed by this newspaper.
Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and started investigating the matter. The police have also asked the forest department to conduct the necessary measurement process to check the quantity of timber seized from the truck.
