KOKRAJHAR, Jan 24 - In view of the Republic Day celebrations around the corner, the district administration of Kokrajhar has beefed up routine security measures like in the last several years to check any attempt of subversive activities in the region.
Meanwhile, the Kokrajhar DC, MP Sharma, also held a high-level meeting with the officials of district police administration, paramilitary and Army officials to tighten security across the district to prevent any untoward incident during the celebration.
He also appealed to the people to participate and celebrate the occasion with national spirit and fervour by joining hands together.
Besides, the Kokrajhar DM also promulgated Section 144 CrPC in the district preventing pillion riding on two-wheelers to check any attempt of terrorism and shall remain in force until further orders.
The Kokrajhar district administration chalked out plans for a daylong programme to celebrate the Republic Day. The programme will begin with prabhat pheri at around 5.30 am followed by hoisting of the National Flag on residential buildings, shops and business establishments, government and semi-government offices, educational institutions etc.
The district administration will organize a children�s sports programme and a friendly cricket match between DC�s XI vs BTC-XI at Kokrajhar Government HS and MP School playground at 2 pm.
