Security meet on PM visit

GUWAHATI, May 10 - A meeting was held at the Guwahati Circuit House here today to review various arrangements for the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the city.

The meeting was chaired by Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Dr M Angamuthu and attended by Joint Commissioner of Police Diganta Bora and senior officials from the district administration, PWD, GMC and various other departments, said an official statement.

Angamuthu directed all the departments to complete the arrangements for the Prime Minister�s visit which is scheduled for May 26.

Modi is expected to attend two events in the city, one each at the Sarusajai Stadium and at the Veterinary College ground, besides events at some other places in the State. His visit will coincide with the first anniversary of the BJP-led government at Dispur.

The meeting discussed issues related to security arrangements to be put in place during the visit of the Prime Minister.

PWD was directed to repair all the major roads and fill up the potholes, while GMC and PWD (Electrical) were directed to repair all the streetlights in the city.
