Security beefed up after bomb threat to bridge at Jirighat

SILCHAR, Jan 10 - Ahead of the Assembly elections in Manipur, security has been intensified at the bridge in Jirighat connecting Assam and Manipur, following a threat that the bridge would be blasted.

Cachar SP Rakesh Roushan said, �Following intelligence reports that NSCN (IM) and NSCN (K) factions might blast this approximately 500 metres long bridge which serves as the solitary lifeline for people of the two States, security measures have been intensified in the area and police officials of Jirighat, Jiribam along with Assam Rifles and Cachar police are keeping a round-the-clock vigil on people as well as vehicular traffic movement in the area.�
