Sec 144 CrPC clamped in Biswanath

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Feb 11 - Apprehending breach of peace and tranquillity due to the prevailing law and order situation, the Biswanath district administration has clamped Section 144 CrPC throughout the district with immediate effect.

The order, issued by Additional District Magistrate Pervez Amin, prohibits the assembly of five or more persons in public places; carrying of weapons in public places, playgrounds, cinema halls, auditoriums etc.

The order also prohibits pillion-riding on two-wheelers. However, it will not apply to women and children and security force personnel, public servants or mediapersons.

The order prohibits forceful collection of donations, organisation of lotteries or gift coupons, meetings, demonstrations, processions and sloganeering in public places without prior permission from the authority.

The order also prohibits use of microphone at any place by using high decibel sound between 6 am to 10 pm. It completely prohibits use of microphone and bursting of sound-emitting fire-crackers at any place between 10 pm to 6 am.

The prohibitory order will remain in force up to April 6 next.
