Sec 144 CrPC clamped at Aalo

ITANAGAR, Sept 3 - In the wake of detection of 62 fresh COVID-19 cases, including 49 cases today, in Aalo area following a �DJ night� event, West Siang Deputy Commissioner Moki Loyi has promulgated prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC, restricting movement of people and vehicles to enable doctors and health workers carry out contact tracing to prevent further spread of the virus.

The DC said that the Humgo Rigo Resort, where the alleged event was held on Saturday last in violation of COVID-19 protocols, has been banned and another resort, Cozy Resort, has been declared a containment zone after five of its workers tested positive for COVID-19.

Further, an FIR has been lodged against the event organisers, the DC said, adding that a thorough magisterial and police inquiry would be conducted and accordingly, action would be initiated.

The district administration clarified that it did not give any permission, nor the organisers of the DJ Nite event sought any permission in this regard.

Meanwhile, senior citizens of Aalo township have expressed anguish over the report of holding of such an event at the time of the pandemic.
