Sec 144 clamped in Jorhat district

JORHAT, Feb 9: The district administration has imposed certain restrictions under Section 144 CrPC in the district.

An order passed by the Jorhat District Magistrate stated that assembly of five or more persons in public places, taking out processions, burning of effigies, construction of any structure as swahid bedis in government or public places, training in public places by way of drills, training in the use of weapons and lathis, collection of subscription, donation etc., by any person, group of persons or organisations, bursting of crackers or throwing crackers at moving vehicles have been prohibited.

The order further said that throwing of coloured powder or any other objectionable substance on people, especially on women and children at public places, use of loudspeakers near hospitals, judicial courts, educational institutes at high decibels from 10 pm to 6 am, making communal or antinational speeches and slogans, pasting posters and writing on government or private buildings, use of tinted glass in vehicles, blowing of vacuum horns, use of coloured and bright lights, wearing dresses similar to military forces, have also been prohibited.
