MUMBAI, Sept 25 - To improve access to investors in the Northeastern region and spread financial literacy, capital market regulator Sebi on Friday approved setting up a new office in Agartala.
The Sebi board also approved to establish an office at Vijayawada, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh.
�The board approved opening new local offices of Sebi at Agartala which will cover the States of Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura,� the regulator said.
The move is part of Sebi�s efforts to educate and help investors. It would help investors to have a better understanding of the capital markets.
The Mumbai-headquartered Sebi had earlier opened its local offices in various places like Patna, Hyderabad, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Bengaluru and Guwahati, as part of its efforts to decentralise its functions. � PTI
