SEBA online classes for Class X students

By MAMATA MISHRA

GUWAHATI, March 25 - In an attempt to compensate for the losses of academic days of students who would sit for their HSLC exams next year, SEBA has launched online classes through YouTube for students of Class X from today evening.

Lessons of subjects English, Mathematics and Science would be uploaded through YouTube videos every day in Assamese, English and Bodo languages so that maximum number of students can keep themselves updated during the lockdown period.

The students would get intimated about the video upload through SMSes on their mobile numbers registered in the Board database.

As staying at homes while maintaining social distancing is paramount at this hour of crisis, we have taken this initiative to keep the students of Class X engaged during this lockdown period. The digital materials of the current curriculum are being uploaded in YouTube by SIQUES EDUAID LLP in association with the SEBA, Board chairman RC Jain told The Assam Tribune.

Approximately 4.5 lakh students would sit for their Board examination next year. In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the schools were closed down in State, and clubbed with the nationwide lockdown, the period has been extended at least up to next 20 days.

We also wanted to start similar initiative for classes VI, VII, VIII and IX. But since the movement of teachers is not allowed, it is difficult to make large-scale videos. For Class X videos, teachers have been kept in separate isolated locations, the SEBA chairman added. The Board has sought permission from Deputy Commissioners for allowing some special movement of teachers for the benefit of lakhs of students.

The students of junior classes can, however, scan the QR codes available in the textbooks to get animated videos explaining the course contents.

For Class X, initially, the curriculum of February and March would be covered through the videos. The SEBA would take a call as the situation proceeds.

As in case of any YouTube video, the SEBA video contents would be available for repeat playing and would be archived with the Board for lifetime. In the comment section, the students can ask their questions and get their queries answered by the teachers.
