GUWAHATI, July 26 - The All Assam Media Employees� Federation will resort to a sit-in demonstration on July 28 at Dispur Last Gate over various problems of employees of media houses in Assam.

The Federation has been demanding implementation of the Majithia Wage Board recommendations, a law for protection of journalists, pension scheme for media employees and a minimum monthly salary of Rs 15,000 for electronic media employees.

The Federation rued the non-implementation of the wage board recommendations in most of the media houses of the State. It said, while several states have launched welfare schemes for media employees, journalists and other employees of media houses in Assam have been deprived of the benefit of any such scheme.

A memorandum will be submitted to the Chief Minister in this regard.
