KAZIRANGA, Sept 24 - The journalist fraternity from various parts of Assam have demanded a special package for the infrastructure development of Kaziranga, including the fringe villages.
During a special delegation-level meeting of Assam State Journalists� Union held at Kohora, mediapersons coming from 18 different districts of Assam demanded that State Government must come up with a concrete masterplan and declare a package of Rs 1,000 crore for the development of infrastructure of Kaziranga, the fringe villages and ensure proper livelihood for the local people of Kaziranga and its adjoining areas.
The meeting which was presided over by president Jitu Sharma Rajkhowa decided to request the State Government to open a Department of Mass Communication in every college of Assam so that interested students can pursue the course so that they are better placed in the future to eke out a living in media houses.
The meet also decided to request the Government to ensure proper implementation of the Wage Board recommendations by various media houses for the reporters and correspondents.
Delegates from Udalguri, Majuli, Amguri, Sivasagar, Tezpur, Golaghat and others attended the meet.
In order to ensure proper functioning of the Union, some amendments had been made during the meeting.
