Scope of �Atmanirbhar Bharat� package in NE discussed

GUWAHATI, July 21 - The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Guwahati today organised a webinar on the topic �Atmanirbhar Bharat: The way forward�.

Resource persons from different fields shared their views and deliberated upon the scope of Atmanirbhar Bharat package in the North East at the webinar.

In his address, LR Vishwanath, Head of North East Zone, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, said that a very unique and innovative integration has been made by the government with announcement of the Atmanirbhar Bharat package and under this initiative there is scope for reform in every sector of the Indian economy.

�It is important to have the vision to integrate each sector of the economy so that the wheels of different sectors rotate in unison. It is very important to give equal support to the small level industries as well,� he said.

Referring to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Vishwanath said that everything that comes in the way as a hindrance offers an opportunity for innovation.

Citing the scope for entrepreneurship development in the Atmanirbhar Bharat package, Manoj Kumar Das, Managing Director of NERAMAC and former director of Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship, said that resources are plentiful in the North East and these can be utilised properly with the financial package announced by the Centre.

In his speech, Prof SS Sarkar, Head of the Department of Commerce, Tezpur University, said that the economic packages unveiled during the crisis period by the Central government will help in achieving economic growth.

Dr MP Bezbaruah, former head of Department of Economics and dean, Faculty of Arts, Gauhati University, spoke about the idea of self-sufficiency and its contemporary relevance.
