NALBARI, Aug 21 - The teacher of St Mary�s School situated at Panigaon village in Nalbari district was arrested on charges of sexual harassment of a cook of the school on Monday.
The police of Belsor police station arrested Father Philips this afternoon as a woman working in the school lodged an FIR alleging sexual harassment by him.
The officer-in-charge of Belsor police station Dipul Boro said that a case has been registered (case no. 188/18) under Section 354-A and 354-C of IPC.
It may be mentioned here that the local people gheraoed the school when the victim woman informed them about the attempt of the teacher. The woman alleged that Father Philips had been trying to rape her but she had somehow managed to escape.
Yesterday morning, the Father entered the room of the cook and tried to molest her. However, the woman ran away from his clutches and informed the nearby villagers about the Father�s act.
The villagers immediately rushed to the school campus and created an unruly situation demanding punishment against the guilty teacher.
The Belsor police arrived at the spot and arrested the Father to bring the situation under control.
