KAZIRANGA, Oct 2 - In a noble attempt to impart knowledge about flora and fauna of Kaziranga National Park, The Corbett Foundation, a wildlife NGO in association with Kaziranga National Park authority arranged a free jeep safari inside KNP for some selected students from various educational institutions of Kaziranga area, including two colleges and 13 schools were part of the safari team.
The programme was arranged today as a part of 32nd Wildlife Week. According to Dr Navin Pandey, the chief of Kaziranga branch of Corbett Foundation, the objective of this free jungle safari is to help the young generation to develop an emotional attachment with nature and wildlife, adding that it is important to expose them to the threats on the biodiversity of KNP due to anthropogenic pressure. Each vehicle was provided with Nature�s Guide to teach the students about the flora and fauna, including avifauna. Students could see Rhino, Hog deer, wild boar, elephants and avifauna like Drongo , Pelicans, open billed stork, erget , Indian roller and many others. The students were also given a brief demonstration on biodiversity and endangered species by Dr Mayur Bowri of TCF at Kathpora watch tower point.
Talking to this Correspondent, the students expressed their happiness about the safari trip inside KNP, adding that it had helped them to learn about nature and wildlife practically.
