GUWAHATI, Aug 28 � All the seeded players won their respective games in the first two rounds of the 2nd SBGJ All Assam Inter School Chess Championship at the Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti School in Amingaon here today. Altogether 135 students including 12 international rated players from various schools are participating in the 3-day Swiss League event. The event is being organised by Shatrang, the SBGJ Chess Club and supported by Akshayam, a city-based NGO. The total prize money at stake is Rs 30,000 besides trophies and certificates, stated a press release.
Earlier in the morning, the event was inaugurated by Preeti Saikia, managing trustee of Dr Bhabendra Nath Saikia Children Welfare Trust in the presence of Anubha Goyal, principal, Sarala Birla Gyan Jyoti, M Arun Singh, secretary, Guwahati Chess Association and Biswajit Bharadwaj, Secretary, Akshayam.
