GUWAHATI, Feb 4: The CID of Assam Police today filed a charge-sheet with the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate of Kamrup (Metro) naming 32 persons as accused in the multi-crore-rupee scholarship scam.
The scam relates to embezzlement of huge sum of money meant for the pre-matric scholarship scheme for minority students in Assam.
The case was registered based on a complaint filed by Mahmood Hassan, the director of Assam Minorities Development Board and the state nodal officer of the said scholarship scheme.
The charge-sheeted accused include four headmasters, two electronic data processors, two assistant teachers, two presidents of school management committees, eight owners of customer service points of different banks and fourteen middlemen.
The charge-sheet has been filed under sections 120(B), 406, 409, 419, 420, 468, 471, 109, 201 of 34 IPC and section 66C and 66D of the Information Technology Act.
