SC order on NRC hailed

GUWAHATI, July 22 - The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has welcomed Tuesday�s order of the Supreme Court of India on the process of updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC).

AGP general secretary Dr Kamala Kanta Kalita said in a statement that the Supreme Court order has once again proved the justification of the Assam Agitation. He also made an appeal to the members of the party to extend their cooperation to the process of inclusion of the names of indigenous people of the State in the NRC.

Dr Kalita also called upon the AGP members to keep a strict vigil on the NRC update process so that not a single illegal migrant is included in the document.
