GOLAKGANJ, May 18 � Senior Supreme Court lawyer Upamanyu Hazarika today visited the Indo-Bangla border in Golakganj sector of Dhubri district and surveyed the border area.
Sources said Hazarika visited the border areas and inspected the fencing along the international border.
He was accompanied by Sajjad Shah, Director Border Department, Najrul Islam,
DC Dhubri, Mridulananda Sarma, SP Dhubri and senior officials of the district, sources said.
Irked at the Centre and the Assam government �dragging their feet� on fencing the Indo-Bangla border to check entry of illegal Bangladeshi migrants, the Supreme Court had last Wednesday appointed senior lawyer Upamanyu Hazarika as a Court Commissioner to visit Assam�s border areas with Bangladesh and submit his report on the ground reality to it by June 30.
