GUWAHATI, Aug 22 - The Assam Scheduled Caste Welfare Forum has appealed to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to include an experienced MLA from the SC community when he expands his council of ministers. In a representation to the CM, the forum highlighted the difficulties faced by the SC people for want of a representative from the community to take up their issues. It said an SC minister aware of the problems faced by the community would be in a better position to address their issues.
The forum also appealed to the Chief Minister to initiate a special recruitment drive to fill up the vacancies under the Scheduled Caste quota in the Assam Civil Services. It further requested him to ensure that the reservation provisions are followed properly during recruitment.
