SBI soccer tourney concludes

GUWAHATI, March 5 - Kerala emerged champions in the All India Inter Circle Football Tournament of the State Bank of India organised by the Circle Welfare Committee (CWC) of State Bank of India North Eastern Circle under the auspices of the Sports Control Board State Bank of India, Corporate Centre, Mumbai.

In the final played yesterday at the Sarusajai Sports Complex here, Kerala defeated the North East team 6-0.

The tournament was inaugurated by State Sports Minister Naba Kumar Doley on February 28 in the presence of Ashutosh Agnihotri, Commissioner and Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare, SBI Chief General Manager PVSLN Murty, among others. Altogether 13 circle teams took part in the meet.

In the preliminary stage, North East got the better of Mumbai (1-0), Chandigarh (4-0), Lucknow (6-0).

Digmanu Gupta, General Manager, SBI attended the closing ceremony as chief guest. Former international footballer Gilbertson Sangma, AFA secretary Ankur Dutta were also present in the closing function.
