SBI shifts administrative office to Dibrugarh

DIBRUGARH, Feb 23 - Going by the sprout in business opportunities in the region and developing communication network as also for improved service and control, the State Bank of India (SBI) shifted the region�s zonal administrative office from Jorhat to the city here.

The office located near Goshala in Chiring Chapori here was inaugurated recently jointly by PVSLN Murty, Chief General Manager, SBI, North East Circle and Deputy Commissioner MS Manivannan. Kaushik Sinha, the Deputy General Manager and Circle Development Officer (NE) was also present for the inaugural of the office at the new site.

It must be mentioned here that the SBI�s Dibrugarh�s administrative office was earlier functioning from Jorhat (North). This administrative office controls the business and operations of SBI Banks in Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh), Sonitpur, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia.

The Chief General Manager in his exhortation to the bank officials said that the objective of banking must be realised in an innovative manner. People must have easy access to finance and other banking services instantly and conveniently.

�Technology that aid banking must be introduced to the people. Credit facilities must not stop. The prospective borrowers must be identified through an established process and they should be linked to sustainable models for better results. We ought to think in an innovative way to give people the schemes that will bring benefits,� he said.

Deputy Commissioner in his speech said that shifting the administrative office from Jorhat to Dibrugarh was a wise decision taken in time. �It will be helpful not only for the administration but for the people of the region. An administrative office is must in this potential district,� he said.

Kaushik Sinha, the Deputy General Manager and Circle Development Officer said that the administrative office being in the operational area now would provide impetus and momentum to the growth and service in the region.

The zonal administrative office (Business and Operation) here will be headed by Deputy General Manager, Tilak Kumar Dhar. The inaugural function was anchored by Abdul Rauf, Chief Manager (HR). Bolin Chandra Das, Chief Manager (General Banking) offered the vote of thanks. Jiten Sonowal, Chief Manager (Administration), Regional Business Office, Dibrugarh was also present among others for the opening of the new office.

The Chief General Manager, PVSLN Murty, also inaugurated the Retail Assets and Small and Medium Enterprises City Credit Center (RASMECCC) at Zig Zag Road here and the E-Corner at SBI Main Branch.
