SBI customers seek respite from poor services

SUALKUCHI, June 23 - Customers of Dadara SBI have expressed serious concern over the indifferent attitude of a section of bank employees and officers in regard to inordinate delay in sanctioning loans to the farmers and suspected a nexus between middlemen and the employees.

In a meeting held yesterday at the conference hall of the bank, the heads of different institutions and organisations of the locality complained that callousness of the employees annoyed the general customers who had to spend a long time in order to complete the necessary formalities before applying for a loan.

Paresh Baishya, Principal of Dadara HSS alleged that some bank employees often behaved in a rough manner with the customers.

Sankar Saikia, president of Dadara Sarbajanin Durga Puja Shatabarsa Udjapan Samiti said middlemen often played a dominant role in sanctioning the loan to the farmers, which is detrimental to the reputation of the bank.

He demanded a separate counter for the senior citizens. Girish Deka, secretary of Dadara Senior Citizens� Association called upon the bank authority to establish good liaison with the customers.

Gakul Das, Headmaster of Dalibari HS put emphasis on appointing an officer to help the illiterate customers. Among others, Sarbananda Kalita, Headmaster of Pachariya Kusal Kowar HS, Abed Choudhary, Dibakar Kalita, president of All Kamrup District Students� Association expressed grave concern over the style of functioning of the bankers.

Surabhi Bhattacharya of the bank, who attended the meeting, gave a patient hearing and assured the customers to address the grievances and try to improve the present condition of the branch.
