IMPHAL, Nov 28 - Angry customers waiting for long to withdraw money vandalised two branches of State Bank of India (SBI) in Manipur today, police said.

The SBI Manipur University branch here was vandalised by some customers and in the process, one policeman suffered minor injuries, they said.

In another incident, window panes were smashed and the name plate of SBI branch at Leimakhong in Imphal West district was uprooted by aggrieved customers. Meanwhile, the nationwide protest by opposition parties against demonetisation was also carried out in the State capital.

Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee President TN Haokip told reporters that the demonetisation had severely affected people and put the daily wage earners to immense hardship due to lack of currency notes. PTI
