SILCHAR, May 30 � Even as the students and faculty of Ramanuj Gupta Junior College celebrated the success of Saurav Agarwal who secured 10th position in the HS examination of 2015 from the Commerce stream, the college management said that they were expecting students from the Science and Arts stream as well.
Srimanta Dutta, the director of the college said �our students have done well and the over results have been impressive. Mandira Paul of Science stream missed out on the 10th spot by only two marks as she secured 476 marks in total. We are happy for Saurav who brought laurels to the college. Also the college has two State highest mark holders � Dhanashri Maruti (100 in Mathematics) and Krishanu Dey (99 in Physics). �
The college recorded 99 per cent in the Science stream and total pass percentages in both Arts and Commerce streams.
Saurav who bagged 455 marks with letters in all papers said that he wants to pursue Chartered Accountant as his career and said that he studied for 15 hours ahead of the exam. Meanwhile, Sreyansh Bhura gave Lalit Jain Commerce College a huge reason to celebrate as he stood 4th in the Commerce stream. Sreyansh scored 463 marks in total with letters in all five subjects. He is planning to go for MBA in finance.
Women�s College Silchar also put up an impressive performance in the Arts and Commerce streams. Out of 397 students in the Arts stream, 234 passed with 58.94 pass percentage and in the Commerce category, out of the 42 students, 34 have passed registering a pass percentage of 80.95.
Overall, of 900 candidates appeared in Commerce stream from Cachar district, 715 passed with 79.44 pass percentage. In the Science stream, 1,403 candidates appeared and 1,211 cleared with 86.32 pass percentage and in the Arts category, 9,172 candidates appeared and 6,016 came out with flying colours recording 65.59 pass percentage.
