GUWAHATI, April 28 - The Jana Sikshan Sansthan, Kamrup, under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, felicitated Sharodi Saikia, eminent Sattriya exponent and Sangeet Natak Akademi award winner, for her valuable contributions to society.
A felicitation ceremony held in the Bamunimaidam office of the organization on Wednesday highlighted her contributions towards the promotion and popularization of Sattriya dance within the State as well as outside.
The artiste was felicitated by the Director of Jana Sikshan Sansthan, Kamrup, Munin Kakati, with a phulam gamosa, sorai and a citation in the programme that was conducted by Sabin Das, programme officer of the organization.
�Not just a cultural activist, Sharodi Saikia is also an administrative officer as well as a former member of Sansthan�s board of management. She has set an example for others to emulate,� said Kakati.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharodi Saikia said she would continue to work for promoting Sattriya dance with a renewed enthusiasm. She also elaborated on the need and relevance of Sattriya dance in the present day.
President of the organization Dr Devadutta Borkataki and vice president Alakesh Das were also present on the occasion. Vice president of Agnideep Foundation Amitabh Bhattacharyya and Ranjit Sarma, representative of Prochesta, a women�s self-help group, also felicitated the artiste.
