Satpokhali Tejpur adopted as model village

MIRZA, Nov 27 � The Satpokhali Tejpur Gaon Panchayat in Kamrup district was adopted as a model village under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana at a well-attended function held at the office of the Satpokhali Tejpur Gaon Panchayat at the Rampur Block under the Palasbari LAC in Kamrup district of Assam on November 21. This was stated in a press release issued by the Kamrup district administration today.

The Satpokhali Tejpur Gaon Panchayat is the first village in Assam to be adopted under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana of the Government of India, official sources said.

Inaugurating the Adarsh Gram, Guwahati MP Bijoya Chakraborty said that Satpokhali has been adopted to trigger the process of holistic development.

Kamrup DC Dr J Balaji said that through the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, the people�s involvement has been sought to expedite local development and ensure the welfare of the poorest and weakest sections of the society. He also said that the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana would facilitate the development of all by ensuring their involvement in all aspects related to the life of village, especially in decision making related to governance.

Earlier, the Project Director of the DRDA, Kamrup, Hemen Das gave an overview of the scheme and sought the cooperation of everybody to make the scheme successful.

It may be mentioned here that Satpokhali-Tejpur village became the second village after Rampur-Khidirpukhuri-Gasaipara village at the Rampur Development Block under the Palasbari LAC in Kamrup district.

The Rampur-Khidirpukhuri-Gasaipara village was inaugurated by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on November 5 and the second village, Satpokhali-Tejpur, was inaugurated by Bijoya Chakraborty under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana.
