NALBARI, Oct 5 - Noted critic and litterateur Sashi Sarma unveiled his statue at the Nalbari Press Club recently on the occasion of his 86th birthday. Speaking at the programme, Sarma called upon the people to work for the unity of the society.
Earlier, he was brought to the press club campus in a procession from his Japarkuchi residence. Addressing the meeting as the chief guest, Kanak Sen Deka, former president of the Asam Sahitya Sabha said that Sashi Sarma alone has been trying to strengthen communal harmony among the people. He urged the people to study his books to lead an ideal life.
The meeting presided over by Jiten Sarma was addressed by Dr Basanta Kumar Bhattacharya, former president of Nalbari Jila Sahitya Sabha, Ananta Lal Gyani, Deputy Commissioner Nalbari, Hemanta Bhattacharya, SP among others.
