Sarusajai boys win soccer crown

GUWAHATI, Sept 14 � Sarusajai Coaching Club won the Luitpaar Club nine-a-side open prize- money football tournament, organised by the Luitpaar Club.

In the final played at the Shastri Maidan, OIL colony Narengi here today, the Sarusajai boys handed a 8-0 drubbing to Patarkuchi Nabajagaran Sangha, Guwahati.

Altogether 18 teams participated in the two-day tournament. Kalyan K Das, vice-president of the club informed that the winning team was awarded Rs 15,000 while the runners up team pocketed Rs 12,000 along with the trophies.

Ajoy Thapa and Nayanjyoti Kuli, both of the winning team received the best player and highest scorer�s awards. Former international footballer Gilbertson Sangma and Rahul Choudhory, General Manager (PLS), OIL gave away the prizes in the closing function. Earlier, in the opening ceremony yesterday, the club flag was hoisted by club president Hiren Chandra Bora. The championship was inaugurated by Shashi Kant Panda, General Manager (PLM), OIL.
