Saptadweep, Hridi Priyam, Kaustav bring laurels to Darrang

MANGALDAI, May 31 - Celebration of success among the students, teachers, and guardians etc., continued in Darrang district for the second day today. After the success in the results of HSSLC with four rank holders from the district, it was the turn to celebrate the success in HSLC examination as three brilliant students of the district registered their names in the list of top ten positions in the State All of them however belong to private institutions.

Among the three, Saptadweep Saha, a student of Don Bosco High School, Mangaldai and a resident of Kharupetia town bagged the top sixth position securing a total marks of 589 with the State highest marks in General and Advance Mathematics respectively. Saptadweep, the only son of Dr Bibhash Saha and Champa Saha has attributed maximum credit to his mother who had sacrificed her professional career even after completing MSc in Agriculture. Saptadweep who wishes to pursue a career in Genetic Science following completion of Degree in Medical Science and for that he will now join a private junior college in Guwahati to study in science stream.

On the other hand, the other two Hridi Priyam Sarma and Kautav Kishor Kalita jointly got the tenth position. Hridi Priyam, daughter of Dr Kamala Kanta Sarma and Dipika Devi of Priti Nagar, Mangaldai studied in Kendriya Jatiya Vidyalaya, Mangaldai. Hridi who was very sincere and regular in her studies got 580 marks with the State highest in English and Advance Mathematics. Hridi was earlier in the limelight for her confidence and courage to bring the matter of setting of a few questions beyond the syllabus in the Social Studies to the notice of Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and managed to bring justice to all the students appeared. Hridi wishes to pursue her future academic career by joining science stream in a reputed private institution in Nagaon district.

Similarly, Kaustav Kishor, elder of the two children of Phulmoni Saharia and Kamaleswar Kalita, a teacher of Burha LB High School has also bagged the tenth position from Sankardev Sishu Niketan, Burha. Kaustav who preferred to study without being attached to his study table for long is a regular reader of newspapers and viewer of news- based programmes of TV channels. He gave credit to his mother along with his teachers for his achievement.

Meanwhile, the district has recorded a remarkable achievement in the overall performance, according to the sources in the Inspector of Schools, Darrang office. In the result of HSLC, the district has been placed second in the list of successful districts in the State with an average success percentage of 64.39 against the overall State average of 47.99 per cent. On the other hand, in the case of AHM examination, Darrang has registered an average pass percentage of 66.38.
