GUWAHATI, June 19 � Santu Mandal of Income Tax took sole lead by scoring 7.5 points from 8 rounds in the 6th Jugal Kishore Newatia International Fide Rating Chess Tournament, organized by the Kamrupa Chess Foundation at Terapnath Bhawan here.
In the 8th Round Santu beat Laltu Chaterjee of West Bengal. International Master Arghyadip Das of Est Bengal and Y Dhanabir Singh of Manipur is following the leader with 7 points each. In the eight rounds Arghyadip Das beat Rupankar Nath from West Bengal while Y Dhanabir beat Anursag Jaiswal of West Bengal.
Five players Vikaramjit Singh of Railway, Madan Krishna Kayastha of Nepal International Master Somak Palit of West Bengal, Avijit Das of West Bengal and Laltu Chaterjee of West Bengal shares the third position with 6.5 points. In the eighth rounds Somak Palit beat Praksh Nepal of Nepal and Madan Krishna Kayastha beat Abhijit Mistry while Avijit Das beat Dilip Das of West Bengal.
