Sansuma asked to apologise to BPF

By Correspondent

KOKRAJHAR, March 30 A meeting of the Central Working Committee (CWC) of the BPF was held at the Sikhnajhar Taekwondo Gymnasium here on Saturday to discuss the stand of sitting MP Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary who has decided to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha election as an Independent candidate from the Kokrajhar constituency. The party took a strong resolution against Bwiswmuthiary and gave him a two-day deadline to withdraw his statement against BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary. It was decided that the BPF would be forced to expel him from the membership of the party if he fails to tender an apology.

It may be mentioned here that Bwiswmuthiary, after being denied the BPF ticket for the Kokrajhar seat, termed the decision of the party a family-centric conspiracy against him. He alleged that the BPF president has made the party a one-man show and flouted democratic norms which are unacceptable to the people. He also said that the party would suffer due to this.

Talking to reporters here, the spokesperson of the BPF, Kampa Borgoyary, who is also the deputy chief of the BTC, said that the party was opposed to Bwiswmuthiarys foul words against the party and its chief, Hagrama Mohilary. A showcause notice has been sent to Bwiswmuthiary, asking him to withdraw his words and tender an apology within two days.

He said Bwiswmuthiarys decision to contest as an Independent candidate was unfortunate as he was one of the seniormost leaders of the party and added that if Bwiswmuthiary fails to response to the showcause notice within two days, he would be expelled from the BPF.

It may be mentioned here that after Bwiswmuthiary decided to contest from No. 5 Kokrajhar Lok Sabha seat as an Independent candidate in the forthcoming elections, the BPF has been on sticky turf as he has a lot of supporters who may eat into the BPF votes.

Meanwhile, Borgoyary, who is also the general secretary of the Bodo National Conference (BNC), has condemned the Chirang incident in which a college girl was raped by seven youths and murdered. Borgoyary demanded that the district administration should arrest the culprits involved in the incident and punish them.
